What is congenial heart disease? |
I'd like to know the causes, the symptoms and how long you can live without surgery with this disease. Congenital - means you are born with a heart problem - it is too general to answer your questions as it covers such a large range of issues. congenial means "at birth" and how long you can live with it all depends on what type of heart defect you are born with and the severity of it. Please see the web pages for more details on Congenital Heart disease. http://www.marchofdimes.com/professional... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/congenital_... http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/... http://www.merck.com/mmpe/sec19/ch287/ch... http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/... http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&cli... Congenital heart disease affects children, infants, and even fetuses, which are still developing inside the uterus. Congenital heart disease has many forms. Grouped into different types, it is usually diagnosed and treated accordingly. The disease normally includes one of the following: abnormal holes in the heart chambers, improper connections between chambers which leads deoxygenated blood flow to the body instead of the lungs and oxygenated blood to flow to the lungs instead of the body, and much more. Symptoms are quite similar to the usual heart disease symptoms, such as shortness of breath, complete passing out, fast breathing and difficulty in feeding, poor weight gain, chest pain, and cyanosis. You can find much more detailed information at http://heart.health.ivillage.com/congeni... --Niks www.e-heartdisease.com/ http://heart.health.ivillage.com/congeni... Congenital heart disease comes in various forms. It would be too long to discuss each and every type. You better be specific. Is it PDA? VSD? ASD? TOF? Symptoms also vary with each type. How long you can live without surgery depends on the severity of the disease. Some may reach adulthood, some may not. =( |
