How sodium affects heart disease patients?

How sodium affects heart disease patients?

sodium and water act together in the vascular system. "Water follows salt" So, too much sodium causes water retention, thus increasing the blood pressure. Obviously high blood pressure affects the heart, and can cause aneurysms, not only in the brain, but in the aorta as well. Too much pressure causes a weakening in the vessel wall and can cause an outpouching (aneurysm). If blood pressure isn't controlled then the aneurysm can burst - fatal if not caught by doctors early.
