Old age and Heart disease, how are they related?

i guess we all know that old age means more chance of developing heart disease. But is there a more specific reason what it is so?

As the body ages the vessels which carry blood throughout the body lose some of their elasticity therefore contributing to hardening of the arteries and heart disease. Also, what we put into our bodies chemically plays a big role in the arteies and other body organs not functioning well.
Heart Diseases are a culmination of a lifetime's abuse of the body's intakes. If as a child you eat too many foods containing cholesterol, you are more likely to suffer a heart disease. Old people have weaker immune systems and weaker metabolism. Old people's body defenses are getting weaker as they age. But if you are a fitness fanatic, and you care for your health as early as now, you will live a longer and more fruitful life. Good luck with that project! :)
the older you get the more you abuse your heart by diet, lack of exercise, and other factors such as smoking. The heart is a muscle and it ages like all muscles. The older you are the longer the heart disease has to advance...make sense?
You will hear so many reasons that in the end they are all unbelievable! There are many known reasons and many unknown reasons.
I think I have heard them all. I had a heart attack I got all the usual questions:- Do you smoke?
Do you drink?
Do you stick to a healthy diet?
They go on forever, if you supply all the required 'Healthy living answers, then the only thing left is could it be hereditary? In my case it was not hereditary, I was the first in my family line to have a heart attack. But this now means that a doctor can explain to any of my children that should they ever have a heart attack that it must be hereditary.!! So to answer your question there is no real 'Specific' reason.
