Can you have a heart attack at 16-17? or Heart disease? |
I remember in thr begining of my junior year which was september 2005...when I breathed I had this sharp chest pain, that went from my chest to stomach, I felt as if I was dying, I got so pale, I had circles around my eyes, I couldn't even stand up I felt like I was getting a heart attack...i was sitting in the nurse's office for 1 hour and a half or 2 hrsfeeling so much pressure, I had to be sent from the nurse to the principle's office, I couldn't even stand up, I felt like I was dying while walking there, I had to walk all limpy and I wanted to cry... they wanted to call 911 but I said no I'll be OK, I didn't want my parents to get scared. Well that wasn't the first time that it happened, but that was the worst. I didn't get it anymore but I do get sharp pains that last around 2 minutes..I just would like to know what the hell was it? I know you would tell me to go to the doctor, but they don't say much, and my mother just won't understand...and I'm too scared...What the hell was it Yes, you can have a variety of different heart defects when you're a kid -- most of them congenital (i.e. you were born with them). If you are overweight/obese, you could also have the beginnings of heart disease. However, what you're describing could be caused by a variety of things, and you REALLY need to talk to your parents and see a doctor as soon as possible. Your parents are tougher than you think they are -- don't risk your life just because you don't want to upset your mother. I can tell you, she'd MUCH rather worry than grieve. Please don't wait any longer to see a professional about this. Source(s): I'm a medical librarian. If you are obese and/or play rigorous sports outside in the heat, then yes. You could have a form of heart disease and should be concerned. No, they do not say much but there are several tests available that would be able to tell you what happened. Yes, its can be possible, you really do need to go to the doctor.I'm sure your mom will understand, tell her exactly what you told us here and I'm sure she will be calling the doctor right away, a heart condition is nothing to mess around with, go to the doctor or E.R. now! yes It sounds like you had a really bad stitch, nothing to worry about. People don't have heart disease at 16 or 17, it has been known for teenagers and even children to suffer spontaeneous cardiac arrest, but it's VERY rare and most likely related to genetic condition that weakens the heart. |
