Does spit tobacco usage cause heart disease or lung problems? |
i quit " dipping" 5 weeks ago and my wallet and oral hygene are much better off. However I have a sinking feeling that 13 years of it have hurt my heart and lungs. Anyone know if this is a possibility. If so should I get an xray Good for you that you quit. No question that any form of tobacco is bad for the cardiovascular system---heart and lungs. Of even greater concern to me would be the carcinogenic effect, that is, possible mouth cancer. If you need a good booster shot for an antidote to going back to tobacco, visit someone who has had his lips peeled, to cut away cancer. Time for a good routine physical. Present your history and your questions to a medical professional. Sooner the better. Nicotine will hurt your heart no matter how you intake it. Some will say that the direct insert to your bloodstream will be worse than puffing it up into smoke before inhaling it. It's not just about smoke as much as it's about nicotine into the bloodstream. I'm not sure. But either way, quitting has dramatic influences on heart health, almost overnight. I dont think it would effect your lungs, cause you didnt inhale the chewing tobacco, but the nicotine might effect your heart.. It definately would effect the mouth tissues.. My grandfather died of throat cancer due to chewing tobacco.. You could get throat, tongue and stomach cancer due to it.. Years later also. So make sure you get checked by a doctor regularly... Goodluck! and goodhealth to ya! |
