I have type2 Diabetes with heart disease, cartilage damage in knee, weight problem, what is the best diet? hello nonna, first of all -dang- thats pretty hard too deal with. but good news is right around the corner. go too source and hold on i think you will love what you read. have a wonderfull weekend. Source(s): mymangosteen.com/pledge drtootla.com pubmed.com Personally, I prefer a primarily vegetable diet. I get all my nutrition, I can eat all I want, I keep my weight down, and my blood sugar stays manageable. Read more on my diabetes info page: http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/type... My god what else you got ? 1 - because of your knee perhaps some people recommend you glucosamine , bear in mind although help your knee but not good for diabet , beside what doctor recommend i suggest you have 20 min very slow walk , and no stress at all which is worst thing for heart . one more thing we shud all know is that one day we all pass away tehrefore try to enjoy your healty life Because we don't know the current stage of diabetes or how well it's controlled, it's impossible to say what would be a good diet for you. But... I still wanted to tell you about my husband and his parents: My husband was diagnosed with DM II last year at age 34. He's not overweight, but his fasting glucose was 150, his LDLs and cholesterol were high, and HDLs were very low. His glucose after eating a normal meal was running 250-300. Both of his parents have DM II (diagnosed about 20 years) and follow the ADA diet. Both have gained weight since being diagnosed, have bad lipid levels and have progressed to having to use routine insulin. Not wanting this fate for my husband, I found a book written by Dr. Richard Bernstein called "Diabetes Solution". He advocates a very low carb diet (30g carbs a day) for diabetics. Since we've followed this diet, my husbands glucose ranges have been 125 1 hour after meals and in the 90s otherwise :)... And his lipids have actually improved! His cholesterol and LDLs are back down to normal, and his HDLs have risen to normal. He takes no medications or insulin. Again, because you have heart disease, you need to discuss your diet with your doctor, but low-carb has helped us tremendously. Best wishes and good luck! Do two things. First, ask your doctor the same questions. Second, read what I did in the url below. Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia http://loraldiabetes.blogspot.com/2006/1... |
