What kinds of test to check for heart disease? |
Other than a stress test, I heard they don't always give good results for women. ECG, Stress ECG, Echocardiography and Stress echocardiography. All these tests are noninvasive. Invasive test is Coronary angiography. Coronary angiography is done to find a blockage in the coronary arteries, which can lead to heart attack. It may be done if you have unstable angina, atypical chest pain, aortic stenosis, or unexplained heart failure. These tests have to be conducted by the cardiologist in order confirm the diagnosis made by him. Please see the webpages for more details on ECG, Stress ECG, Echocardiography, Stress echocardiography and also the tutorials on the subject. See a doctor. They need your family history, diet, lifestyle, weight and other risk factors. Start with your primary care physician. If s/he thinks it is necessary s/he will refer you to a cardiologist who may order echocardiograms, doppler screening and any number of other tests. |
