What is a good recipe for someone with heart disease? |
What is a good recipe for someone with heart disease? Anything on the Mediteranean diet (what the Italians eat) Italians have less heart disease than those of us in US and UK, and this is attributed to their diet. Lots of lovely lean meat and fresh fish with vegetables and salads dressed in olive oil. Add to this as much garlic as you can stand....or garlic capsules if your partner complains. It has the side effect of keeping the vampires away! Try cookin fresh salmon by wrapping in foil with lemon and parsley and baking in the oven for 15 minutes, medium heat. Serve with potato wedges (preferably home made and without extra salt) Add garlic for flavour instead of salt. Choose your favourite salad or veg to go wit this dish. If you don't like these foods much, don't worry, you can get used to them, and you will soon wonder why you ever ate anything else, because they are Real food and very good for your health generally, as well as your heart. Keep your intake of salt as low as possible - lots of processed foods contain this. Sorry, but you should avoid smoking and large quantites of alcohol!! But a glass of wine a day with your evening meal could be beneficial - check with your doc. Try to keep your stress levels low. Do some very gentle exercise and some relaxation to your favourite music. Ask for and give lots of HUGS!! Very therapeutic "food" for the soul. Garlic and milk...... my dad used to take it..... dont eat fatty things..... try to eat easily digestible food and do not eat food items which gives u gas trouble......... take care........ vegetables, fish ,rice, little veno.stay away from milk or any thing with high cholesterol People with heart issues could take many supplements available at health food stores. Garlic is a good one. Hawthorn and mistletoe are also good. Eat fish for the good omega 3 fatty acids. Include as many green salads as you like per day and eat whole grains instead of white breads. Chicken Hobo.....Take a boneless chicken breast and put it on a piece of aluminum foil sprayed with pam. Then put a handful of diced potatoes and carrots onion and a lil pepper and Mrs Dash top off with a sppon of I can't believe its not butter and fold up the foil and put in oven on 350 for 1 1/2 hours. Yummy and healthy! This is one of my families favorites. Try any recipe on the South Beach Diet in Phase II or III. It's the most recommended diet by doctors and surgeons. It's used for diabetics, heart disease patients and many others. Good luck. garlic pills, oat bran, oat meal, veggies, and exercise |
