In the 19th century, how did doctors talk about and treat heart disease and heart attacks?

I'm looking for sources or answers to the question of what terminology and what treatment was used in the 19th century by doctors in the case of heart disease and what we now call heart attacks, mycocardical infarctions and other heart problems. I am researching this topic for a novelist friend. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The main question is what did 19th century doctors call what we call heart attacks and how did they treat them

To my knowlege the treatment of choice was digitalis and bed rest and very few people survived more than a very minor M.I.
wish I could help you. But my greatgrand mother died from heat and I know It was not that hot. But syymptoms would be about the same as heart attack. Sweating, weakness and maybe in two hours death. I would think that doctors could only reconize the worst cases. sorry I can not help
My father is 86. His father died of a heart attack at age 60 when my dad was a child. Letsgo back 70years. My grandfather and father were both Dr's.My grandfather was a founding member of the University of Nebraska Med School. He had the best possible care of the time. Bedrest. Thats it. He died a few days later. Bedrest was the only recourse. They did not have medications to use like now. I'm sorry I never met the man.
