Yes, you can have a blood pressure in the normal range but still develop heart disease. Questions that you need to answer: are you having chest pain; numbness in your left arm that radiates into our neck with possible jaw pain; are you short of breath and break out in a sweat and get nauseated. If you have these symptoms then you should seek medical care at once, or call 9-1-1 if you are experiencing all of the above symptoms at once. Check with your family doctor if you are not sure. There are many types of heart disease that can be detected on various tests. Be sure to inform your doctor if you have a family history (mother, father, etc.) of heart disease. There are several good articles on www.webmd.com regarding heart disease. When in doubt...have your doctor check you out. Source(s): Work experience.
You might want to check with a physician for this one.
Blood pressure is only a single risk factor for heart disease. Diabetes, smoking, family history, high cholesterol, and age (over 60) are all major risk factors unto themselves. So to answer your question, yes it is absolutely possible to have heart disease and normal blood pressure. Just like it is possible to have had a father who died young from heart disease and you not have heart disease your entire life. This is true for all of the other single risk factors too.

The symptoms you allude to are cause for concern. You should talk with your primary medical provider. If he/she believes there is something to the symptoms then he/she can refer you for the appropriate diagnostic test or to a cardiologist for further evaluation.

If you are under 40, female, and have no risk factors, the likelihood that your symptoms are truly cardiac is small - not zero - but small. Nonetheless, it is always prudent to be safe rather than sorry, especially in matters having to do with the heart.

Good luck.
