I would like to find out about Genetic links to heart disease.? YES there is a genetic link to heart disease. This is and has been known for a long time how ever, the exact gene that it is has not been isolated (to my knowledge) as of yet. How ever, if your father, mother, aunts, uncles, grandparents have had heart problems then you will most likely have them too. After all you are a product of them, so you have to be like them. So be safe and get regular check ups. :o) Jerry go to science section of bbc.co.uk, or may be using yahoo search engine with the key words u asked is helpful Native Americans have a higher genetic predisposition to heart disease. Being a Native, I have seen many Native people die from this, at a young age (in their 40's and early 50's). Let's see: Father died at 45 of massive MI Brother died at 48 of same Grandmother at 56 diabetic and massive MI Grandfather at 50 died unknown cause suspect MI Other grandparents lived until 86/89 Another brother quadruple bypass at 52 Mother died of congestive heart failure at 77 had angina pains for 30 years. I have enlarged heart, suffer from high BP, treated, still going at 50 but subject to immediate death syndrome. Have had several episodes of blacking out (ambulance rides). |
