Swelling and paining ankle in a person with heart problem could be a bad symptoms of gravity of heart disease?

could it related to BP ? if it fall down or go up for some reasons like emotions sadness happeniess or sth like that

Depending on the symptoms, swelling and pain in the ankle can be caused by different things. It can be related to the blood pressure (BP), but it cannot be influenced by emotions.

If the swelling or pain is just on the one ankle, it just might be a sprain. If it's a sprain, remember the word RICE. RICE stands for Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Rest the ankle/foot. Ice the area with an ice pack to reduce swelling. Compression is to wrap the ankle with an ace bandage, to again reduce swelling. Elevate the ankle, also to reduce swelling. See a doctor if it does not get better in a few days. It may be more than a sprain.

Swelling and pain may also be caused by arthritis. If it's arthritis, you will probably need to see an MD to get a prescription for anti-inflammation drugs. Also, taking a pain med for arthritis might be necessary in order to be able to move the joint.

Another cause of swelling and pain is that it may be a sign of congestive heart failure. Congestive heart failure or CHF, is a condition when the heart cannot effeciently pump the fluids in your body. When this happens, excess fluid will follow gravity and settle toward the lower extremities, such as the feet and ankles. Other symptoms of CHF is general weakness and difficulty in catching your breath. CHF can be managed and treated medically. Definitely, go see a doctor for this!

If it's none of these, try just elevating the feet at the end of the day. It may be that you're just standing too much on your feet all day long! Source(s): I work in Cardiology
This is called edema. I don't have many answers for you but more questions.

It could be related to BP, is yours high? are you on any diuretics? Are you watching your salt intake? Salt can cause you to retain water as well as other medications. Are you diabetic? Some oral antidiabetic meds cause swelling. Are you noticing any edema in wrists and hands as well?

Since you have a history of heart problems I would at least call your Dr's office and leave a message with the nurse. Elevate your feet and take frequent breaks if you are on your feet for a long time. Limit your salt intake. If you are having trouble breathing or find yourself coughing up foamy stuff call 911 right away or if you are having chest pains, irregular heartbeat, or are feeling faint.
