Dear I have 8 years old son who was born with heart disease, potent ductus arteries "PDA". At? If you're asking what a PDA is, it's basically an open channel between the aorta and pulmonary artery, such that some of the blood leaving the heart to go out to the body (in the aorta) flows back into the pulmonary circulation (in the pulmonary artery), which leads back to the heart. So, essentially, a blind loop is created, with the main effect being ineffective perfusion of systemic tissues. Severity and prognosis depend on how large the PDA is, but they are surgically correctable, though some of them tend to close spontaneously as well. Give us your address, so we can all send money to you. that is a serious problem..what do you want anyway or what is the question? It is called Patent Ductus Arteriosis.. If your son is now 8, I would say PDA is no longer a problem. A lot of times babies with this condition are operated on within the first months of their lives. Sometimes the problem can resolve on its own, which I would say is the case with your son. That is arteriosus. He needs surgery, but as long as the shunt is left to right, he is not cyanotic or in distress. |
