Is it possible for two people of the same sex to catch hepatitis c ?

specifically two females....

Hep C may survive on countertops for a time but that does not mean it is infectious to you! There needs to be blood to blood contact. If it were as easy as countertop contact, I would have gotten hepatitis about 3000 patients ago! Do not share needles. Do not snort drugs, do not share razors, do not share toothbrushes. Do not do IV drugs, these are the major risk factors. I would not expect you to transmit HCV sexually.

Yes

Yes absolutely!!

Certainly.

Recent studies suggest that HCV may survive on environmental surfaces at room temperature at least 16 hours, but no longer than 4 days.

Play nice.

only if blood to blood cross contamination happens, ie, the infected blood enters the blood of the other through an open wound.

hcv is not a true std simply because under normal circumstances during sexual activity there is no blood.

you have a higher chance of infection if you share toothbrushes or razors. household exposure poses more risk (slightly) ie, dried blood can be infectious up to 4 days, if that blood enters the bloodstream somehow, you can become infectious.

folks, the cdc doesn't go into details about how one gets hcv, they go laymans terms by few details.

i have had sex since i was 17, am 41 have two kids a husband and a couple of x's and no one has hcv infection!

Hep C is spread through blood to blood contact ONLY. The only way you can get Hep C is to have DIRECT contact with an infected person's blood. Meaning that the infected blood MUST get into your bloodstream.
