Is hepatitis c contageous and how is it passed to another person? |
how is it passed and do I need to go to a dr and get a shot. Hepatitis C is a blood-borne infectious disease that is caused by Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infecting the liver.[1] The infection can cause liver inflammation (hepatitis) that is often asymptomatic, but ensuing chronic hepatitis can result later in cirrhosis (fibrotic scarring of the liver) and liver cancer. hep c is spread from blood if u use a razor that someone else did u both cut ur self and they had it u can catch it ways like that ....yes! go to the dr right away plz! I agree with MamaSmurf..however I am now 2 1/2 years clear of the virus. The strain that I had is gone...call it cured..call it sustained viral responder..its gone. yes it is contageous but only in blood to blood contact. there is no shot to prevent it. Please don't listen to the ones that tell you Hep C is passed by bodily fluids. It is not. They are confusing it with Hep B. There is no vaccine for Hep C and no cure either. It is passed strictly by blood to blood contact. If there is infected blood on someones personal hygiene item and you use it and you have an open wound, you could become infected. It is not passed by having sex unless it is very rough sex and there is blood involved with both people. It can be spread by contaminated needles giving tattoos and piercings. It used to be passed by blood transfusions...but they started testing donated blood in 1992. There is a treatment...interferon and ribivirin given together that takes 9 to 11 months. It can reduce your viral load to 0. It can resurface from serious illness or severe stress. |
