How does a Hepatitis B vaccine make you immune to Hepatitis B? |
How does a Hepatitis B vaccine make you immune to Hepatitis B? The vaccine itself has the virus in non active form {dead} and when its injected into the body, the body see's it as a foreign substance and attacks it with anti bodies-those anti bodies then kill what they think is a live virus and actually re kill it. The body then stores it in memory that this is a foreign substance, Then if you get exposed to the virus [which is the same one you already had injected] the bodys antibodies immediately identify it as the same foreign substance they killed before and attack it again and kill the live virus. Hope this helps-from a nurse. Any vaccine you receive is a dose of the virus. It is placed in order that you're body will build up a resistance to the virus it's self. Therefore keeping you from being infected through contact. I think it must help you a lot, as doctor and nurses that work in the hospitals have to have this injection.. |
