A relative has had Hepatitis C for 26 years, now she has intense fatigue, WILL SHE DIE SOON? |
She is fat and 55 years old, and her daughter was born with hepatitis C, she currently is 26 years old, does my cousin will live as a regular person since she was born with hepatitis C? I do not know why she is not in chemoterapy or if she is, she does not talk about her illness but I suposse that if she is not in chemoterapy is because something very heavy because she is Doctor with speciality in infectious diseases Being very fatigued is a very common complaint of those who have had hep C for many years. My husband has had it for a little over 40 years. Most of the time there are no symptoms, but it's very common for those with hep c to complain of getting tired quickly and often. If her liver is in relatively good shape, she could live a "normal" long life. If she has a very diseased liver, drinks alcohol or does hard drugs, her life will definately be shorter. She could see about going on treatment, but let me tell you, it is no picnic. My husband just started treatment in March and although it has really brought his viral load down tremendously in a few short months, it has also caused him to become severely anemic. He will get a blood transfusion tomorrow. His body has not responded to injections of procrit or other medications for the anemia. Just because a person is lethargic has nothing to do with the extent of liver damage. Type 2 diabetes also runs high in those with hcv infection as well as fatty liver (nash). No ! Don't give them a death sentance now! They just need to go the doctor regurlary and watch their diet! As long as they are treated properly and they follow doctors orders they can live as long as the next person! |
