How long can the hepatitis C virus last outside the body?

How long can the hepatitis C virus last outside the body?

It can survive outside the body for up to 5 days

Mamasmurf is wrong! Mama- you need to get certified! There is still much to learn about HCV and all it's complexities!!!! It is mainly infectious in wet or dried blood for 16 hours and no longer than 4 days!!! (NOT 5) Report It

Well it depends on the conditions the virus is in. If it is a warm, moist environment, up to 3 days. That is unless you bleach it. Bleach kills anything, even the aids virus go figure. Anyway, it can last anywhere from 3 hours to 3 days.

According to the CDC, it can survive on surfaces for 16 hours, but not longer than 4 days and it's still infectious.

But it can survive in medication vials and donated blood for years. Think about it, that's how many people got it through transfusions.

HCV can survive outside the body and still transmit infection for 16 hours, but not longer than 4 days.

I read on the internet that your blood can keep the virus alive up to 24 hrs. I don't know how true that is

Up to 4 days in wet or dry blood. It can only be acquired if the blood (wet or dry) enters your bloodstream.

Hepatitis C can survive outside the body for up to 4 days.
