Effects of Hepatitis A? |
I have been diagnosed with Hepatitis A three years ago in 2005 and recently, I have been thinking about the things that might have been effected because of this virus. For instance, can I still donate blood? Will I have a chance of getting Hepatitis A again? Will I have a greater chance of getting Hepatitis B or C, or any other diseases in the future? Are there any long term effects in the future because of this virus? you have resolved completely and cannot get it again. You are at no greater risk of HBV or HCV than anyone else. You may donate blood. There is no long term effect from this virus. Nothing is affected long term by convalescent HAV. Go get vaccinated for HBV. As far as I was told, people who have had Hep A are usually immune to it afterwards, so you shouldn't get it again. Also I believe having had hepatitis A has nothing to do with the chance of getting Hep B or C. I think that once you have fully recovered, you can donate blood. Overall, Hep A doesn't have any serious or long term effect once you have fully recovered from it (though your blood test will be Hep A positive). |
