Hepatitis B information , can anybody help ?

I am trying to find some information on Hepatitis B which is directed for young people and kids. It needs to include information relating to a past hep b infection and that if you have cleared the virus you can not pass it on to others. I am working with a child who is getting bullied because of this . All the information I find is very medically focused or not written with the young person in mind.
I have been to ask frank and they have nothing .

All help would be appreciated .

thanks for the answers. A bit more information .
person in question is hep b core antibody positive - which basically means they have acquired immunity through past infection . I am trying to find some young person focused information that says this.

This link provides basic information and links to other sources, though no necessarily aimed at young folk:

MedlinePlus - Hepatitis B
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/hepat...

This is for kids. It covers all forms of hepatitis:

KidsHealth - Hepatitis

These are for teens:

KidsHealth - Hepatitis B (HBV)
http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/infection...

KidsHealth - Hepatitis

Hope you find what you need.

Terry

I'm glad to have been of help. I hope you find it useful in the future for your work.

Terry Report It

You can pass on hep B if you have it- not something you can get rid of. You can also just be a carrier. If you are exposed to blood and get the immunoglobulin this can help reduce your chances of getting it if you don't have a positive antibody titer (immunity).

Not sure what you are looking for.
You can get over a hepititis A or E, but these usually cause stomach problems - kinda like a stomach virus.

Look down on the diagnosis part. I think this may be what you are looking for. Talks about clearing the virus with the immunoglobulins... Hope it helps

As for the "mamasmurf" I added a link about the immunoglobulins - which is one way you get rid of it and be cleared.....but still requires testing to ensure the person isn't a carrier. It can be chronic or acute - but if it's acute you can still be a carrier....

Well, my husband has hep c and we have been to many hepatitis class that include A, B, and C. Hep B can be transmitted through bodily fluids, sex, tattoos, and piercings. There is a vaccine for it. It normally does not require treatment and will go away in time. Once in awhile there are cases that do need treatment. After the disease is cleared up, it cannot be passed from person to person. There is a lot of info online. I'm sorry, I could not find anything that was really child friendly either, but I double checked my info that we got a one of the classes. We have learned this from Hepatitis educators and my husbands doctor at a VA hospital. They educate you in all the types. And for the "medical student".....yes you can get rid of type A and B. It is type C that you can't get rid of.

Hi i hope this link helps you http://www.britishlivertrust.org.uk/home...
