Hepatitis? Am I at risk?

Hi. I just got my wisdom teeth taken out and was wondering if I can contract Hep B or C through kissing a person with the virus. There is no more bleeding but my sticthes have come out on one side.

Also, I'm not sure if I ever finished getting my Hep B vaccine when I was a child, that is, I don't know if I received the third part. I read on Web MD that a doctor can tell you from a blood sample/hep B test whether or not you have had the vaccine. Will they be able to tell me if I completed it or not, or if I only have part of it?? Also, I know I had the first two parts but that was in 1998 and then, not knowing I ahd the vaccine I had the first part again in 2005. Can I still complete the vaccination?? How?

Thanks!! and please state where you got your information. :)

Hep B can be passed through sex and bodily fluids. Hep C is passed only by blood to blood contact. There is a vaccine for hep A and B, but not for Hep C. You are not at risk for Hep C unless a contaminated persons blood gets in a wound of yours somehow. Ask your doctor about your vaccine.

you can complete the vaccination any time you want, just one more shot. To check to see if you are already immune then ask your doctor to check for hepatitis B surface antibody, if you have this you are immune. Finally neither HBV nor HCV is spread by kissing. HBV is definitely spread sexually, HCV is probably not spread by sexual contact, it is spread by snorting drugs, IV drugs, dirty needles, tatoos, distant blood transfusions.

Probably the only way you are gonna contract the disease is if they are currently having symptoms of the virus. If you are worried though, can't you hold off on the tonsil hockey until you think you have fully healed ?

I've got Hepatitis C. There is no cure. Go to your doctor and tell him/her that you want a blood test to check your lever. If you have hepatitis, there are several different kinds as you know. I won't go to any liver specialist because they recommend drugs. That is bad. The drug that they recommend the most has only a success rate of only 18%.I treat my hepatitis myself. I can tell you later how I do and how others treat themselves. There are hepatitis forms that you can go to now and see how others take care of their hepatitis. I have other suggestions when I know what kind of hepatitis you have. You may not even have hepatitus. Do not exchange any body fluids with anyone and that includes blood.

Blood 2 Blood for hepc like mama smurf said.

If you read on WebMD that a doc can tell if you are immunized than by all means follow up on that.

The A&B vaccine..I had my first shot 2 years ago. I just now finished up the 'series of three'..

YOU SAID the shots you were given in '98 and '05 count as two..so YES and wherever you got the vaccines..your 'state' they have a record on you.

Here in GA I contacted GRITS..they had a record of my first shot given in '06
