My husbans'd best friend has hepatitis...Should I have my family tested?

We are very close with him and my children play with him frequently.

I would have to know what type of hepatitis......

My mom, dad, uncle, stepmother, sister in law, all have hepatitis c. So I'm very educated about C .

Hep A is very contagious
Hep B is is the same a B but very curable
Hep C is a virus and is only contracted though body fluids

To get tested you have to have reason to believe you might have been infected. I lived with my mom for years and we shared eye-make up and I had to beg my doc for a hep c test! ( and my insurance wouldnt pay for it...)

Only if there has been an exchange of fluids(blood, semen or vaginal fluids). You can't catch hep from saliva, tears, bugs biting the infected person then you, toilets, or even sharing dishes and cups. However, the fact you are asking suggests you are uneasy and may benefit from the testing. There is also a vaccine( a series of 3) you can have to prevent contracting the disease. By the way, Hep is transmitted the same way as AIDS/HIV.

Not unless body fluid was exchanged with him intimately.
Hepatitis B contracted through sharing on blood tainted needles or other drug paraphernalia or sexual contact,While hepatitis C is contracted through using contaminated needles for intravenous drug injection
The hepatitis B vaccine given to children and adults is protective against hepatitis B. There is no vaccine against hepatitis C yet .

There are differances in A, B, and C as stated above, you may not need worry at all,(as the poster above stated) but you have to find out what kind it is...then go from there

Yes you should have your family tested if you husbands friend is playing with your kids, of course, bit would be a good idea to
