What does hepatitis nos mean?

someone i know has hepatitis nos (cpt 573.3) in thier chart....what does nos stand for? what is it all together?

First of all, unless you are the person's physician, you should not be reading the person's medical chart.

But to answer your question, the notation nos means Not Otherwise Specified.
In mental health, it can be used to indicate that someone has a particular general disorder, such as bipolar disorder or depressive disorder, but the exact subtype of the disorder can not be determined yet without further examination.

In the case you describe, the person may have liver damage and/or actual hepatitis, but the specific strain of the virus has not been determined yet, and/or the cause of the liver damage (alcoholism, other drug use, damage from other medications, hepatitis itself, etc), has not been determined yet.
