Had my first prenatal appointment on Thursday...blood tests came back positive for Hepatitis B....please read.?

Ok first of all no...it was not contracted sexually. It was contracted through improperly handled/prepared food. Have any of you expirienced this? My doctor took more blood to do the entire hepatitis test range and said that it is curable and that they will give my baby meds for it within 12 hours of birth to insure that he/she doesnt contract it. I am just worried...I feel guilty even tho there is no way I could have known. I feel fine...as fine as someone in the beginning of pregnancy can feel anyway lol. How often are there errors in the hospital labs? Thank you

My doctor specifically told me you can get Hep B from food.

You can't get Hep B from food, it's only transmitted by blood or sexual contact. Hep A is the one you get from food.

EDIT: Either you misunderstood your doctor and you have Hepatitis A or your doctor needs to go back to medical school.
