will I be protected from getting Hep. A?

I am going to China in a week and still need my Hep. A vaccine. If I get the immune globulin one week before departure, will I be safe from Hep. A?

If it will immediately begin protecting me, then why do other websites say it takes 2 weeks to activate and begin to kick in?

Yes. The immune globulin is just preformed antibody that is immediately ready to fight the Hep A virus.
