My mom has tested positive for hepatitis c?

...she got it by sharing needles when she used to be a drug addict.
When i was 16 (5 years ago) she got clean and sober and i moved in with her. I think we may have shared a razor to shave our legs. could i have gotten hep c from her by sharing a razor?

yes you could, but dont worry, if your mom has it you will get tested for it numerous times throughout your life. what happens is her blood has to get into your blood, for it to happen, its rare... dont worry, but get tested!

No one has mentioned the fact that you can have it simply during your birth. HCV is not acquired through pregnancy, but it is sometimes spread during childbirth.

You have risk factors, the only way to know is if you are tested. You may show antibodies to hcv but you may also be active as well.

Babies born to hcv infected mothers usually have antibodies, but it isn't clear until 18 months of age whether you have active hcv or if you just had antibodies to the virus.

Better see a doctor- he can clear things up for you. Plus it's late and my mind doesn't think as well....:O)

It is possible to spread any blood-borne pathogen, such as hepatitis, HIV, syphilis sharing razors. The best thing to do is get tested and don't share grooming tools again. The odds are low according to the Center for Disease Control, however hepatitis can live outside of the body for a period of time.

You will have to be tested because you shared razors. Never share a razor or even place your toothbrushes next to each other. Hep C is not curable and you may need gamma globulin. Do this as soon as possible and never share razors or anything that comes in contact with blood. I hope you are negative but gamma globulin can help. I pray you don;t have it. Yes you can get it from sharing the razor, so get help ASAP.

Yes you can potentially have gotten Hepatitis c from her. Best thing you can do is to not share personal items with her for your own safety and to get tested.
Sharing a razor with her can have her own blood and if you got cut that it can be passed onto you.

Yes, it is possible. People should never share razors or toothbrushes with someone who has Hep C because of the risk. You should get tested. (As I'm sure you know, Hep C is transmitted by blood. Casual contact is not a risk.)
