How does someone get hepatitis c?

Hepatitis B or C can be caught in different ways. Hepatitis B and hepatitis C are spread by contact with infected blood or other body fluids of people who have hepatitis B or C infection. For example, you can get hepatitis B and C by having sex with an infected person.

Many different ways, but the basic is blood-to-blood contact.

And Eren...if your answer is serious, you need to be educated. You cannot catch Hep C from breathing around someone who has it, or drinking from the same glass.

-were notified that you received blood from a donor who later tested positive for hepatitis C.

-received a blood transfusion or solid organ transplant before July, 1992
-were a recipient of clotting factor(s) made before 1987
-have ever been on long-term kidney dialysis
-have evidence of liver disease (e.g., persistently abnormal ALT levels) "

HCV is spread through sharing needles or "works" when "shooting" drugs, through needlesticks or sharps exposures on the job, or from an infected mother to her baby during birth.
