I am suffering with hepatitis b and HBeAG positive, is this disease curable and what steps i want to take? |
about hepatitis There is no cure for hepatitis B at this time. Supportive care is the mainstay. Other treatment options for those who are HBeAG+ are lamivudine, entecavir or adefovir. Entecavir acheives better results than the other two and achieves a greater decrease in HBV DNA than lamivudine and is better tolerated. Both entecavir and adefovir are generally well tolerated. Your family and friends may require treatment with either hep B immune globulin (HBIG) or a hep B vaccine series. Which one they will need depends on an evaluation of hep B surface antigens (HBsAg). You will have to monitor your ALT (SGPT) during treatment to see if it is working. Avoid transmission to others. It spreads through blood, shared syringes and sexual contact.
