Are all forms of hepatitis transmitted from person to person? |
or can some types of hepatitis just occur in the body on their own merit Yes & No. You can have a generalised Hepatits and this can be brought on by a number of things such as alcohol, drugs both illicit & presecribed and disease such as Cancer. The main infectious causes are as follows:- Hepatitis A is transmitted via faecal-oral route - mainly get it from water or from food that has been prepared by someone who has not washed their hands after going to the toilet. It can also be transmitted sexually if you're into rimming and that person has Hep A. Hepatitis B is blood bourne and transmitted via unprotected sexual intercourse, blood transfusions (tho extremely rare in the UK now), vertical transmission (mother to baby) and contact with infected bodily fluids. Hep C also blood bourne and mainly transmitted via needle sharing, sexual intercourse - such as fisting etc and blood transfusions (tho this is now very unlikely). There is also a link between a group of users who snort cocaine and have been sharing straws etc. Hep E is similar to A and Hepatitis D usually accompanies Hepatits B so is never present on it's own merit. There's also a few more but little is yet known of these. Source(s): 10yrs experience is HIV/Infectious Diseases field Hey there, I have found just recently that physicians use the word hepatitis when dealing with any occurence that causes high liver enzymes. Like, if someone had an allergic reaction to a medication, it could affect the functioning of their liver. Hep B I know that you get from food.. Hep C is from blood- needles. Here is a good site for you to go too for more info on this topic http://www.medhelp.org/forums/hepatitis/... Hepatitis A is water or food bourne. B,C and D are spread from person to person. There is also a rare Hepatitis E which is also probably water bourne. GP for more years than I care to remember Further to all of these answers, is that Hepatitis is not given to anything that causes derranged or elevated LFT's, it is the term given to an inflammation of the liver. It has several causes, including various strains of virus, but can also be caused by drugs, alcohol, and often by conditions such as auto-immune hepatitis, NASH and increasingly common fatty liver. Others, such as HHC and Wilsons can cause hepatitis. In short, no, not all forms are transmitted from person to person. ok there are a bunch of ways to catch std's one is haveing sex and the other i knoe is a misquitoe.Just like the wes nile the misquitoe could have bitten a person with an std and they can spit that virus into you.So if you have not had sex and you have an std than a misquitoe must have spit blood that had an std virus into you or something else. And hey im 11 years old and i know about a bunch of sex talk so if you have any questions email me at:monkey71096@yahoo.com |
