How do you get hepatitis d and e?

Are hepatitis d and e new found virus's??

There is only A, B and C. No D and E that I'm aware of...

Go to this site for more information. I guess there is Hepatitis D & E: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases...

That I decided to research with one of the handy internet search engines everybody has access to by putting "hepatitis d and e" in the search term input box.
There actually is a type D and E.

Type D hepatitis can be passed through contact with infected blood, contaminated needles, or by sexual contact with an HIV-infected person.

Type E hepatitis is most likely to be transmitted in feces, through oral contact, or in water that's been contaminated.

they arent new, they just arent very common, especially in north america. i forget how you get them... we just went over them in school not too long ago... i think theyre both blood borne though. i know one of them has a lot of implications for pregnancy, i think its D
I think through sharing Hypodermic needles, like the others, perhaps? :S
There is little consensus about that. Some researchers have come across evidence that suggests the existance of hep d and hep e, but most don't feel that there are other than Hepatitis A, B, and C. If the other ones exist at all, they're most likely transmitted just as the other three are. Your best protection is personal hygene - wash your hands afer soiling - drink only water that's certifiably clean and uncontaminated, and eat only well cooked foods. Where salads are concerned - you have to be sure you can trust they've been properly washed with clean water. In many countries, that's not a given, so you're better off passing on the salad bar.
