Can I get a Hepatitis shot again even when you already got one for A & B? |
Can I get a Hepatitis shot again even when you already got one for A & B? For B, yes technically you can get one, it won't hurt you, but instead of going through the series of vaccinations again, why not just get tested to see if you're immune? As for A, you can get that vaccination whenever you need it. If you're exposed multiple times you may need it again. I'm not sure of the lifespan of the effectiveness when it comes to the A vaccination, but I know it's not lengthy. you can get as many as you like, a or b the more the better your body will build up an immunity, i work in a medical facility and we have to check and see if your body made antibodies to the hep b shot if not then we have to give another, with hep b there is two secessions of the shot one six months later, the most i have seen one person get is four Yes you can, they count as a renewals. If you got only hep A, you need both. If you got only one hep B, you need the full series of 3. You can both in one vaccine, Twinrix, recommended 5 years after the first vaccination series, if you initially had Twinrix. If you had the monovalent vaccine (each one separately), then the schedule is a hep A booster 10 years after the initial vaccination and the hep B booster 5 years after the inital vaccination. There's no hard eveidence that boosters are needed unless you are in one of the "at risk" groups. I'm a nurse. |
