I have been diagnosed with hepatitis c. I have apparently had it for some time.? |
I have no income or health insurance. I have applied for disability. If and when I get approved I will then get medicad. My health is deterorating. Where can I get medical assistance? I live in Columbia South Carolina. I am 46 years old Hi There I had Hepitis C due to drug abuse and dirty needles. I had it for a long time before it was dicovered. My health was going down too. I know how much the medication is and it's terrible but I was told that if I didn't have the funds to pay for these drugs the company would pick up the tab. Your doctor and pharmasit should know this and should have already mentioned this before. Will you be taking the chemo meds? When I had the " BIG C " I had only an 8% chance of being cured but to everyones surprise I was cured but still have the cells in my body. I received disability after 3 try's but thats the common 3 time thing. Do you have a social services around where you live? They may be able to help. They did for me. There's also Forward Services or DVR if you have this programs where you live. I wish you good luck and I hope you get everything you need as soon as possible. In fact, it might take less time. Please be careful and tell all who work on you that you have it. Its easy to spread via blood. I work in health care and this is the virus that scares me the most. No cure. we live in n.c., my husband has hep. c very sick!! he was able to get medicaid before he got disability, he went to the county social services, he was approved, took a little while but he got it. Do you have a family doctor or social worker you could talk to about this problem? It's too bad you don't live in Ontario, Canada otherwise you would be covered by OHIP. You can also have a social worker help you with social assistance. I don't know how your health care system works in the U.S. for patients without any coverage. I believe you can get disability when you have liver or kidney failure. I am sure you will be approved. |
