Is it any connections between hepatitis C and sore throat, coughing, ear infections?

I read an article about Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. He had a throat surgery last spring and hepatitis C treatment. What kind of throat surgery it may be?

While hep c does affect organs other than your liver, it is unlikely that the sore throat, coughing, etc are from hep c. Source(s): HCV educator, advocate, & survivor
Very, very unlikely. Hep C is a liver disease. A sore throat, ear infections and coughing are not the usual symptoms of Hep C. They are the usual symptoms of a sinus infection or some other common ear, nose throat infection. Just check with a doc.

Update More info on Hep C from Wikapedia:

Hepatitis C is a blood-borne, infectious, viral disease that is caused by a hepatotropic virus called Hepatitis C virus (HCV). The infection can cause liver inflammation that is often asymptomatic, but ensuing chronic hepatitis can result later in cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Acute hepatitis C refers to the first 6 months after infection with HCV. Remarkably, 60% to 70% of people infected develop no symptoms during the acute phase. In the minority of patients who experience acute phase symptoms, they are generally mild and nonspecific, and rarely lead to a specific diagnosis of hepatitis C. Symptoms of acute hepatitis C infection include decreased appetite, fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, itching, and flu-like symptoms

Generalized signs and symptoms associated with chronic hepatitis C include fatigue, flu-like symptoms, muscle pain, joint pain, intermittent low-grade fevers, itching, sleep disturbances, abdominal pain (especially in the right upper quadrant), appetite changes, nausea, dyspepsia, cognitive changes, depression, headaches, and mood swings.
the above poster is wrong on his information. hcv is NOT just a liver disease. The virus only needs the liver to make it's virons and then send the messengers out into the body. In turn, HCV is found in everything, ie, skin, heart, lungs, kidneys, intestines...brain. everything. yes it is possible to have ear infections and throat issues since our bodies are chronically infected thus, weakening the rest of our bodily functions.
I do not remember what it was ST had the surgery for, but perhaps the thyroid. Thyroid disease is three times likely to occur when HCV and/or its treatment (antiviral chemotherapy) are in force.

I would further like to tell everyone that HCV changes its genetic makeup each time in re-enters the liver. (hence the chronicity of the virus).
The hcv virons do pass the blood brain barrier along with the toxins from the liver damage (unable to filter toxins).

If you have hcv, your entire body is ill.
