What is Australian Antigen and Hepatitis B ? What are the precautions to be taken who find blood report +?

Australia antigen is Hepatitis B surface antigen. A positive report means that the person has hepatitis B. This may be acute hepatitis, chronic hepatitis or carrier state.
Precautions to be taken are not donating blood, not letting anyone have contact with one's blood in any way, not sharing needles. If it is a male, he will have to use a condom until his partner is vaccinated. A woman with hepatitis B can transmit it to her babies. Her children should be given hepatitis B vaccine and immunoglobulin immediately after birth. It is better to vaccinate all family members with hepatitis B vaccine., if unvaccinated.

Well i do not know about austrialian antigen. Hepatitis B is the disease of the liver and its curable in 3-6 months time. Diet has to be strictly adhered so as to avoid jaundice.We do have hepatitis A which can be for lifetime in certain persons( carrier) but can lead a normal life with medication

Hi! my dad had hepatitis B--we were all with him as he took his meds and treatment- i was pregnant with my first child--nothing happened to anyone of us--we lived with our dad when he went to La for treatment--a gud one yr--we were all a OK!shared the same toilet, etc. but make sure the diets ok and u have gotta go easy on the suger and salt intake,my dad got hypertension so he had to cut down on the salt intake and he had to limit his fluid intake--i mean just a few ounzes of liquid per day--inclusive of tea coffee and other beverages.i dunno what aussie antigen is tho.pls check it out everyone will b ok!
