Does joint pain relate to hepatitis B and if it is what is the treatment? |
Does joint pain relate to hepatitis B and if it is what is the treatment? Yes, one of the most common symptoms of hepatitis B or C next to fatigue is joint pain. Check with your gastroenterologist or infectious disease doctor first, but taking glucosamine with chondroitin can help initially. After taking that for a few years, I had to move on to ibuprofen, and now I'm on medication for rhuematoid arthritis. They have found a higher correlation between hepatitis & other extrahepatic diseases, such as arthritis & diabetes. Even though I responded to the treatment for HCV, I now have rhuematoid arthritis. It is being managed with the RA meds. Best wishes to you. Source(s): HCV educator, advocate, & survivor i have not heard of joint pain being directly related to hepatitis B - however those who have acute hep b virus and are symptomatic can complain othings such as - flu like illness which i guess could include joint pain. go to www.patient.co.uk I do not think so. Why sure it is! It is called fibromyalgia! It is relative to Hepatitis B because HBV does not just reside in the liver! It resides in all tissues of the body including other organs. I had Hepatitis C (not B) and even though much different that Hepatitis B, I do know a couple that have HBV with the same symptom. DO NOT let your doctor tell you it is not related! The more people that report the pain, the more doctors will understand. This was the same issue those with HCV had....what used to be considered an "asymptomatic" disease, actually has many bi-directional diseases and symptoms. Without HBV-you would more than likely not have to live with fibromyalgia. Look into treatment! They are having some success in those with HBV using the treatment made for HCV...."antiviral chemotherapy". ((Interferon and ribavirin)). I do not know what it is like to have HBV, but I do know what it's like dealing with joints and bones hurting! It's not fun!!!! I no longer have fibro since I responded to antiviral chemo, BUT sometimes when i am stressed and then can finally relax I do notice a bit of soreness, but NOTHING like pre-chemo! HCV Advocate, no longer have fibro. HUGS! |
