Some indicate active or chronic infection, others indicate past infection. Your negative blood test were undoubtedly the test for antibodies/antigens for acute or chronic infection. An antibody test for past infection of Hepatitis B would still be positive
Hepatitis B is usually a life long infection but it can be completely erradicated, especially in adults.
