Sharing toothbrushes, razors and being in the service. Very rarely is HCV spread through sexual intercourse because not normally is there a passage allowing transfer. HCV is not an STD. It is a liver disease that kills!

There is no vaccine for hcv. HCV is spread through transfer of blood. It is a blood borne infection infecti that can take up to 10 years before you realize you have it. Doctors simplify their blood labs and even though the ALT and AST levels in your blood shows withint normal ranges, you can still harbor active HCV.
Symptoms of HCV vary and is wide spread. Skin rashes, hair loss, weight loss, severe fatigue and lethargy, Depression (usually the first sign or), other mental illnesses. HCV resides, once in your body, in every organ, every tissue. It can affect the heart, lungs, kidney's.
HCV KILLS THOUSANDS EVERY YEAR.

Yes, I get tested every year during my annual. Both my parents "had" and my stepdad "has" Hep C. When I found out, after my mom died, I immediately called my doctor for an appt. That was in 2002. I know that they all got from sharing needles with one another. And I don't know how long they had it. My dad died in 1990 and he had it then, sooooooo?????? Thanks for all the information. I have been tested for HCV and I was negative. I was also told by my doctor that I should be vaccinated for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B since these can also be serious infections and they are PREVENTABLE!

As you stated, there is no vaccine for Hepatitis C, but there is treatment available.
