Help my nurse friend w/ Hepatitis B...? |
im jz wondrin' if my Nurse friend who is new here in California & a Hepatitis B positive, will still be qualified to work in facilities like Hospitals or Nursing Homes..her lab result of HbeAg were already NEGATIVE but the HbsAg result still POSITIVE-accordng to her doctor tht she is not highly infectious anymore cz she responded wlth the therapy thus the negative result of her HbeAg-but she is still worried cz she might not be able to work if the facility finds out her health condition-if ever she seeks employment,is there a need for her to tell prospect employers abt her condition? hope i will get some answers from u guys--thanks a lot... Hello, I also found that I have Hep B positive. I am a clean person, never exposed my self and here I am with Hep B. I am also a father who needs to support my family. My point is, why will I work in a place that can put a lot of people at risk? why will I work in a place that has lots of vulnerable people who could contratct hep. from a simple mistake?. Despite my needs to survive, I hope, I wish that there are other ways to prevent us from having to work in areas that can extend the level of hepatitis. I don't think that we should work in hospitals... Yes, she should tell employers of her previous infection. This way, they can check for themselves, and possibly keep checking to make sure she isn't re-infected. You must remember that working in the health field, one of the primary considerations is to do no harm. in my opinion, it would be difficult to find work in the hospitals being Hep B positive since you are screened for any viral infections and even for MRSA...this is so to prevent outbreak to the patients.id rather suggest that your friend should continue her therapy until she is negative for HBsAg. off course the nurse should tell her employer about her condition. Any way she can work in acute set up using disposable gloves and condoms while doing her practice. |
