My Doctor says that I HAD Hepatitis-B in the PAST but I Wont catch it again,...does this mean that I'm Immune? |
Do I still have it ? Yes, you probably had evidence that you had the infection, meaning you have HBs antibodies. If your HBS antigen is negative and antibodies positive, then you got cured. And you're immune. If your HBS antigen is positive then you may still have it. Check with your doctor to be sure which anitgens/antibodies you have. From the little information I have, it looks like he checked both and you're immune. You have the antibodies for it so you are protected. Hi! My dad was once diagnosed with hepatitis c. He got it from a blood transfusion when he was 7. It stayed dormant in his body and came about around age 17. It became dormant again and he is now 50. His doctors tell him that while it is no longer "active", he has the "marker" for it and will always have that marker. It is possible to have a flare up though. So technically, you don't have to worry about catching it again, you will always have it, though it is not present right now. Hope that helps! can not answer this question with simple yes or no. because there are two parts. Yes, and you are also a healthy carrier which means that whenever you come into contact with the virus, you wont catch it but will pass it on to others. |
