In acute hepatitis, it takes about 1-6 months from the time of infection until symptoms appear.

Hepatitis B is life long. It stays in the liver and blood no matter how great your spleen is.
it is the period between getting infected & symptoms appered which may vary from 1 month to 2 years or more
10 to 12 wks after exposure you are likely to start showing symptoms. In most adults it is curable if you have a healthy liver to start and catch the infection soon enough. Sometimes teh symptoms are so mild you dont know you have it.
