Do they test your blood for hepatitis b before entering the air force? |
If it is positive can you not be in it? The meps physicial does include "routine blood work" to include chronic hepatitis. The great majority of people who have contracted hepatitis B in adulthood clear it on their own and are immune to it. However, active hep B is a reason for exclusion to the military as it can lead to cirrhosis and liver cancer. Also, if you know about this going into the military and you don't mention it... that's bad, too. Essentially, it is cause for administrative (not a medical) discharge. Source(s): I am a military physician I know for a fact that they take blood because I had my physical test like a month or so ago im not sure if they would keep you out though because of hep B. Ask a recruiter. When I entered the airforce the only thing they told me they were checking me for was Aids, but if you have hepatitis and it is contagious, then you would not be allowd to join. |
