Is there an easy cure for Hepatitis B? |
My cousin, who lives in Pakistan and born there has recently found out that he has Hepatitis B. He has started taking medication called "Adeowin", and I cannot find any information about that anywhere on the Internet. He said that they caught it at the "early stages" of the illness and resting and taking these tablet will help him. I found out that 95% of adults who get this become clear of it after a few months. Does anyone know anything about this medication and is there any medication I can send to him from the western world that would help him become clear of this? I think he contracted it after donating blood to an ill friend about a month ago. Thank you! well, some people actually resolve on it's own. there is a possible treatment that can resolve in a sustained viral response. he needs to ask his doctor if he is a good canadit for antiviral chemotherapy. (which is probably the pill he is taking) good luck! p.s. The chances of becoming chronically infected depends upon age. About 90% of infected neonates and 50% of infected young children will become chronically infected. In contrast, only about 5% to 10% of immunocompetent adults infected with HBV develop chronic hepatitis B. In some individuals who become chronically infected, especially neonates and children, the acute infection will not be clinically apparent. Source(s): riss-hepatitis c objectives have a few who are dually affected by hepatitis b as well as c (two totally different viruses!) I doubt your cousin got hep B from blood donation unless Pakistani health care professionals use dirty needles for phlebotomy. It doesn't happen that way. It's transmitted sexually and through sharing needles. I've never heard of "Adeowin". Are you certain you've spelled it correctly? There's no specific treatment for hep B. If indicated, HBIG (hepatitis B immune globulin) is given. There's no way you can get this and send it to him. It's an injectable and is given by a nurse. I'm a nurse. |
