My daughter has been exposed to Hepatitis C? |
from her boyfriend i am taking her to dr. she feels fine and has no symptoms but we are still going to take her to get tested she wants to take nursing school if she does have it can she still be a nurse? My husband gave me Hepatitis, I didn't know he had it and when I found out it almost ruined my marriage. Hep C is only transferred by blood. Like sharing the same razor, toothbrush, nail clippers,etc... Most people have Hep C and don't even know it. It can take up to twenty years before any symptoms show. And 80% of people show no signs or symptoms. Some symptoms are fatigue, Nausea, abdominal pain, jaundice, and loss of appetite. I wish her luck at her Dr appointment. Get gamma globulin injections now. They don't hurt - I've had 'em. Of course she can. That's what general precautions are for, to protect medical personel AND the patient. I hope she's not positive, it's an aweful lot to deal with as a young girl. Good luck to you and her. yes you can be a nurse and have hep c. You probably will have to disclose it with your employers but as along as you use universal precautions you should not spread the disease to other. |
