Anything other than Inteferon out there for people with Hepatitis C? |
Anything other than Inteferon out there for people with Hepatitis C? A friend used the product below and found it helpful (although it is NOT a cure!!); Source(s): http://www.hepatitisc-remedy.com/... Not in the US at this time, other than some phase 2 testing. England has a protease inhibitor that is being used in conjunction with inteferon, and it seems to be better than just the inteferon, but it hasn't passed FDA inspection in US. Austrailia also has a product that has shown great promise, but again it's in testing phase. Testing has shown thalidomide to be effective when used with interferon, but it shouldn't be used by those of child bearing age. Besides it has been tested overseas but not here and is not approved for treatment of HCV. Latest word is that Japan has a product that seems to be tolerated very well, and a course of treatment is less than a month, with over 90% achieving SVR. But guess what? It's in trial phase not currently...... Every year drugs with promise are appearing, but sad to say, in spite of the fact that HCV is the leading cause of liver transplant in the US, and liver disease is now the 10th leading cause of death in the US, we aren't on fast track for drug release. Four million people is the current (under guesstimated) total in the US, and we can't get fast track clearance for the drugs to treat this sh*t! HCV Warrior 30+ years Advocate / activist Over 40?
