What does it mean if somebody's blood contains Hepatitis B antibody? |
What does it mean if somebody's blood contains Hepatitis B antibody? Think of antibody as a "calling card." The idea of vaccination is to introduce the agent to the body, let the body develop antibodies, so in the event the person is exposed to the agent the body has the calling card, can identify and help proof you against that agent. I have had my Hepatitis A and B shots, since I work in a laboratory and its very possible to be exposed to Hep A/B. Therefore I have antibody to Hep A/B, so if I'm exposed to those agents, I have a mechanism to repel. However, if you have not been vaccinated, and all the sudden you have a rise in titer.... you need to be seen by a doctor. means you need to go get checked out if you came in contact with it... it is a disease that destroys the liver..but is also contagious...get checked...good luck it means you have the soldiers neded by the bod to fight off Hepatitis B virus, it may also mean that you can be a carrier of the said disease for you might have experienced having the illness It can mean that either they had the hep B vaccine series, in which case there better be antibodies, or that the some one has been exposed to hep B. I'm a nurse. |
