Has Anyone Tested Positive FALSELY For METH That Had HEPATITIS C?

I HAVE BEEN TOLD EVEN BY MY DOCTOR THAT I CAN AND MOST LIKELY WILL TEST POSITIVE FOR METH EVEN THOUGH I AM IN RECOVERY AND NOT USING. I GO FOR A URINE TEST SOON FOR WORK, AND I REALLY DONT WANT THIS TO HOLD UP MY BEING GAINFULLY EMPLOYED! WHAT R THE CHANCES I WILL TEST POSITIVE AND CAN THEY EVER SAY CONCLUSIVELY THAT IT WAS NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE WITH A HIGH VIRAL COUNT IN YOUR URINE FOR HEP-C? I HAVE A TYPE OF HEP-C LEAST COMMON AND LEAST RESPONSIVE TO THE CHEMO.DOES THIS PLAY A FACTOR?

I work in the field of Hepatitis C and had never heard of this and so I did some research and contacted some of my colleagues to double check. Just because you have Hep C does not mean you will test positive for meth. There is no connection in the type of blood test that is done. Your genotype or viral load has nothing to do with it either - all the genotypes are exactly the same ( 1-6 that we know about so far) in that they affect the body the exact same way. Genotype 1 (and 4,5,6 depending on what part of the world you are in) responds differently to treatment and so the treatment is longer than 2 or 3. Treatment for genotype 1 which is the most prevalent in the western world is 48 weeks and 2 and 3 is 26 weeks.

I would definitely question your Dr again as to why he thinks this is possible and ask him where he gets his data from?? Good Luck to you.
no but pleanty of people have tested for meth positively TRUELY and gotten Hep from it.
SHUT UP SLAMMER
I have never heard that. look up hepatitis and meth, false-positive meth result/hepatitis, just false-positve meth results. just a few ideas.
in most cases the only way you will test positive for meth is having a reactive test to the chemicals and of course it will show positive. (meaning you've recently used the drug).

your having hepatitis c will not make your test come out positive.
a high viral load is a high viral load, not a "high meth" reading.

as far as your hcv goes, the hardest to treat is the most common in the united states which are 1A or 1B and the hardest to treat.

i am hoping for your sobriety because the drugs just cause the HCV to be more active and more faster at damaging the liver.

I would further like to say that HCV only needs the liver to reproduce-HCV is found in all organs and tissues.

If you can stay clean for 6 months the doctor then can put you on treatment. Even if you don't respond, your liver will get a break and can reduce some damages done from the virus.

Good luck and stay sober!
