What will qualitative and quantitative tell you in a hepatitis B test?
Quantitative tells you the signal level, proportional to the level of the analyte in the sample. Qualitative tells you positive or negative and is more interesting to the physician because it is based on confirmatory analysis, which statistically pools the results of several individual tests, run using a protocol that uses diluted and non-diluted sample, and using a binding-site blocking agent, and unblocked tests (referring to immunoassay testing). |
