What happens when I only take 2 of the three hepatitis B shots? |
I only took 2 shots, then came the bill and it was too expensive, so I decided to change doctors, but he's on vacation and im do for my last shot... What will happen if I just skip the last shot? mastermind and lonelycrow are both basically right. You should get all three (depending on your titer 2 or 4 may suffice) if you are unable to afford the third shot in a series or get blood drawn to check your titer, know that you most likely have some immunity to hepatitis that will stay with you for years. Two shots are much better than none. Get the third and a blood test when you can afford it. Brian C. PharmD You need a titer to tell if you are immune, most people are immune after 3, but some need 4, to be immune. Basically, you lower your chance that the vaccine "took" and you are actually immune. However, a good percentage of people are fully immune after just 2 shots. You might not want to chance it if you're at high risk, though! ~Bryan, Pharm D I wouldn't mess with that. Maybe you should ask a doctor, there is a reason they give you three. there is a chance u could get hep B.. try going to the health department thay give free shots or get MC than it will be free to get them. shots can get expensive Then you have to take them all over again. They all end up working together so it's important that you take ALL three. I've been through the same thing. |
