What do 2 people doabout sex if they both have hepatitis c?

say one person has gone through treatment and levels are very lowbut not gone. and the other person cant have treatment because it is too late and needs a liver transplant. what are the risks invloved. how do people stay together when they both have it. the one whose levels are down would not want to take a chance would he or she? help please

Many couples have only one partner infected with hep c while the other one remains virus free. This is because hep c is rarely sexually transmitted. It is only passed from blood to blood transmission, so if there is no piercing, needles, or anything that will transmit blood from one person to another, then you should be OK. Razors and toothbrushes are a risk factor, so do not share those items.
If your partner gets a liver transplant, he/she will probably have to do treatment after transplantation to keep the virus from attacking the new liver. Even if it does, it still buys years for the person transplanted. Good luck to you. Try to find a local support group so you can educate yourself and meet other people who have been through what you're going through. You are not alone. they dont have it
Condoms.
Hep C is not totally curable. The current standard of treatment for hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a combination of two drugs: pegylated interferon and ribavirin. Check out this website:

It explains a lot, and in great detail. I would suggest that if they are very concerned that they will "get it" again- to use protection. People can stay together that have it, it really makes the most sense! They also can be good support systems for each other! But really, read that website- its the best. Good Luck!
Hi

Hep C is very rarely transmitted by sexual contact. It is a blood Born illness. Don't share razors, toothbrushes or anything that may have blood on it. You can use condoms if it makes you more comfortable. I was married to a man who had Hep
C for 20 yrs. I never contracted it, we were careful about razor, toothbrushes etc...but never used condoms. Talk to your doctors or go to a support group maybe they can put your mind at ease.
you can't get rid of it period. Shouldnt it attack the new liver because it has spread to the blood? if they both tested for it in the past they have it for the rest of their lives. period.
