What can happen if you still drink even though you hav hepatitis C? You will do serious damage to the liver, possibly to a life threatening degree. DO NOT DRINK with hep! taking like 1 drink is like drinking 7 or 8 of the same thing. It speeds up the deterioration of your liver, and will certainly shorten your life. Alcohol is like throwing gasoline on a fire if you have Hep C. My husband had it. He died from it even though he had a liver transplant. And he was one of the lucky ones. Many people we know in the clinic never got that far. If you aggressively do whatever treatment is available for you, you may have a chance to live a normal life. It can and most likely will speed up the deterioration of your liver which will then turn into cirrhosis and then liver cancer and then you will die. If you can't stop drinking when you know the chances you are taking please get help. People do live normal lives with Hep C, I do and my husband does but you have to make some very important changes and stopping drinking is one of them. Please do it. God Bless You.
